Victory lights (sentinel lights on the Gobi towers)

The artist is Roerich

In the foreground is an old tower resembling a bowl of flame. At the foot – Timur (Tamerlan; 1336–1405) with his horse. In the time of Tamerlana, such patrol towers were called “Tamerlan flowers”. The conventional lights from these towers were transmitted the necessary information, including about the beginning of wars and about victory.

In the film “Victory Lights” (1940) in the night darkness, a powerful flame burning on a guard tower is a warning about an approaching threat (war with Nazism).
